Agartala, Dec 5: Demanding high level enquiry into the brutal killing of two journalists – Sudip
Dutta Bhwomik and Santanu Bhwomik in the state, the visiting eight members
delegation of Tripura journalist under the banner of Forum for Protection of
Journalist – Tripura Tuesday called on the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in
North Block.
The journalist team led by veteran journalist Subal Kumar Dey
has explained the ongoing terror tactics of the ruling party and the attempt to
regulate media and perpetrating violence on the journalist in the state of
Tripura.
In a fifteen minutes discussion with the union home minister Mr Singh, the delegation further explained the law and order situation of Tripura and motivated action of police force and state administration.
However, Dey said that the home minister Rajnath Singh has paid a patience hearing on the demands of delegation regarding media security and ensuring impartial enquiry by the independent agency over the murder of senior Journalist Sudip Dutta Bhowmik and TV Journalist Santanu Bhowmik of Tripura.
He also assured the visiting delegation that he will take appropriate actions and talk to the Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over the situation of journalist in his state.
The journalist team is also scheduled to meet the President Of India Ramnath Kovind Tuesday evening seeking his intervention to ensure the freedom of expression and security of journalist and also providing justice to the family of both the journalist killed brutally.
The delegation team however showed demonstration in-front of Press Council Of India to press for their demands and seek intervention of policy makers. UNI
