New Delhi, Dec 13: Hours before last phase of election in Gujarat, the BJP on Wednesday sought to
make use of the verdict of CBI court in coal block allocation
corruption case and said the court order only reflect how corruption flourished during the erstwhile Congress regime.
"Aaj wo kath garey mein kharein haen (Today they all are
in the dock)," Union Minister and BJP leader Piyush Goyal told reporters
here.
He said the CBI court has given its verdict today (Wednesday) and among others former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has been convicted.
"Congress owes an answer.....on all these, when will Congress come clean," he said.
"Today's verdict in the case reflects how Congress-led centre and their supporting allies were functioing when Congress was in power," Mr Goyal said.
He pointed out that Mr Madhu Koda was an Independent legislator and he was "propped" as the Chief Minister only at the instance of a section of Congress leaders at the centre.
The BJP reactions come close on the heels of a special CBI court in New Delhi held former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, former Coal Secretary HC Gupta and former Jharkhand Chief Secretary Ashok Kumar Basu guilty of cheating and criminal conspiracy in the multi-crore coal blocks allocation scam.
The CAG report in around 2010 had said that the faulty allocation of coal blocks during UPA regime had cost the country a loss of Rs 1.86 lakh crore. UNI
