JAMMU, JANUARY 20: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr
Nirmal Singh today thanked the Union Government for increasing the quantum of
ex-gratia and other reliefs especially for the cross-border firing victims.
Pertinently, the Union Ministry of Home
Affairs, has recently approved that relief and compensation for house damages,
crop/livestock losses, relief for stay at relief camps and displacement etc
will be payable at the rates equal to NDRF that are fixed from time to time.
Dr Singh said the ex-gratia relief in case of
death has been increased to Rs 5 lakh whereas Rs 75000 would be provided in
case of permanent disability and Rs 5000 for minor injury.
Similarly, in case of house
damage, the limit has been fixed at Rs 1 lakh or 50% of assessment of actual
damage. He said Rs 30000 will be given in case of death of cattle (cow/buffalo)
Rs 25000 for death of horses and Rs 3000 for goat and sheep.
