Jan 6: The poor management of Tripura – Bangladesh border has triggered
severe reaction among the political parties ahead of crucial assembly election
barely after a month following the report of Border Security Force (BSF).
The cross border crime and criminal activities have become
one of the major issues of the upcoming election of the state and the
apprehension of Bangladeshi influence in Tripura poll has increased following a
report of BSF today.In a release, BSF said in December last year they had seized the contraband items from different borders of Tripura worth Rs 2.32 Cr that included goods like garments, vehicle, cattle, Phensidyl, forest produce , fish, sawmill, medicines, Yaba, liquor and ganja (cannabis).
The items worth Rs 2.23 Cr were seized while smuggled out from the state to Bangladesh and rest of the items worth Rs 9.34 lakh had been seized when smuggled into India from Bangladesh, the release stated. UNI
