DC Kargil reviews arrangements for Republic Day 2018

KARGIL, JANUARY 05:- To finalize the arrangements for Republic Day 2018 celebration, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain convened a meeting of concerned officers here today.

During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on the arrangements to be put in place for the ensuing Republic Day celebrations. The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Tsering Gylapo, officers of MC, Education, Cultural Academy, several engineering wings like Mechanical, PHE, R&B, besides other concerned departments.

The DC issued necessary directions with regard to the arrangements including snow clearance at the venue, security, transport, sanitation, power supply, medicare facilities. He also directed the concerned officers to ensure snow clearance of the venue well before the start of rehearsals for the Republic Day parades, besides keeping men and machinery in readiness in case of snowfall on or during the Republic Day.

While exhorting upon the officers to work in tandem and maintain close coordination the DC stressed upon the need to ensure better security arrangements, parking, drinking water facilities, uninterrupted water supply, and proper seating arrangements for smooth conduct of the Republic day celebration.

It was decided at the meeting that flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Kargil followed by March past. The contingents of ITBP, CRPF, J&K Police and NCC will participate in the march past. Cultural programmes will also be presented by the artists of Information Department, Cultural Academy as well as school children.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also directed the SDMs and Tehsildars of the various Sub Divisions, Tehsils and Niabats in the district to put in place timely arrangements for the celebration of Republic Day in their respective jurisdictions.
