New Delhi, Jan 23: Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on Tuesday
filed a fresh quashing petition before the Delhi High Court against the order
of disqualification in the office of profit case approved by President Ram Nath
Kovind on the recommendation of Election Commission.
As per Election Commission, by being
parliamentary secretaries, holding office of profit, they were liable to be
disqualified as MLAs of the Delhi Assembly.President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the Election Commission’s recommendation to disqualify 20 AAP MLAs for holding office of profit.
The affected legislators had withdrawn their plea on Monday from DHC seeking stay on the EC’s recommendation.
The disqualified MLAs are: Adarsh Shastri (Dwarka), Alka Lamba (Chandni Chowk), Sanjeev Jha (Burari), Kailash Gehlot (Najafgarh), Vijendra Garg (Rajinder Nagar), Praveen Kumar (Jangpura), Sharad Kumar Chauhan (Narela), Madan Lal Khufiya (Kasturba Nagar), Shiv Charan Goyal (Moti Nagar), Sarita Singh (Rohtas Nagar), Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), Rajesh Gupta (Wazirpur), Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri), Anil Kumar Bajpai (Gandhi Nagar), Som Dutt (Sadar Bazar), Avtar Singh (Kalkaji), Sukhvir Singh Dala (Mundka), Manoj Kumar (Kondli), Nitin Tyagi (Laxmi Nagar) and Jarnail Singh (Tilak Nagar).
Delhi High Court Justice S Ravinder Bhatt on Tuesday -- after hearing the fresh quashing petition seeking quashing of the notification disqualifying them on the ground of holding office of profit as Parliamentary Secretaries -- listed the same for January 24 for hearing. UNI
