Jan 5: To promote theWest Bengal Government’s Safe Drive Save Life traffic awareness campaign, a pet project of Chief
Minister Mamata Banerjee, Kolkata Police is going to organise a half marathon on January 7 in Kolkata.
Kolkata Police will also observe Road Safety Week 2018 from January 7 to 13.
The Safe Drive Save Life Half Marathon, as it will be called, will set the ball rolling for the Road Safety Week.
There will be three races as part of the programme on January 7 – a 21 kilometre (km) run, a 10 km run and a 5 km run, the lower age limits for which are 18 years, 15 years and 12 years, respectively.
For the winners, there will be medals and cash prizes. The start timings for the 21 km, 10 km and 5 km races are 6 am, 6.30 am and 7 am, respectively.
All the participants in all the categories will get race day and finisher T-shirts. Photographs of the runners will be posted on the Facebook page of the Kolkata Police Traffic Department. UNI
