New Delhi, Jan 5: Continuing attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over its Rajya Sabha nominees, Delhi
Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) on Friday alleged that the party was
Bharatiya Janata Party's 'Team B'.
over the one of the candidate ND Gupta, fielded by AAP for
the RS polls.
The DPCC president, Ajay Maken, also alleged that Mr ND Gupta, the AAP's RS candidate, was indirectly being sent to the Rajya Sabha by BJP, as he has been close to BJP stalwart Arun Jaitley who even appreciated Mr Gupta for his social work and other things, as quoted by ND Gupta in his bio data available on the internet, Mr Maken said.
Maken further alleged that there has been a 'deal' between the two parties. He said that CA Naveen Gupta, son of ND Gupta, had got in touch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the GST event by ICAI on July 1 last year and alleged that Naveen was also close to the BJP.
'This is the same ND Gupta who was president of ICAI on 2nd February 2002, when their building was inaugurated in Delhi by Arun Jaitley who was then Union Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs.
Maken further questioned that AAP which always boasted of democratic reforms and political values was now suddenly pushing forward a person who wasn't a part of the party and only handled AAP's accounts.
'Today is the 4th anniversary of the Lokpal Bill, which was the most important agenda of the said anti-corruption crusaders. They have forgotten it now, as it is yet to be implemented,' said the DPCC president.
While commenting on Sushil Gupta, the other controversial candidate of AAP for RS, Mr Maken said it was on November 28 when Sushil approached him with his resignation stating that he was offered RS seat and was sure of it. 'Initially, when Sushil had come to me saying this, I could not believe it, but I don't want to get into details when he told me the whole thing. This whole episode questions the core principals on which the AAP was formed five years ago,' Delhi Congress president said. UNI
