JAMMU, JANUARY 16- Minister for Disaster Management, Relief,
Rehabilitation and & Reconstruction, Javaid Mustafa Mir informed the House
that newly created Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and
Reconstruction (DMRRR) Department was allocated Rs 362 crore for 2017-18 to meet unforeseen
exigencies.
“Jammu and
Kashmir is highly prone to earthquakes, floods, avalanches, flash floods etc
and the Government created this separate Department in
pursuance to the Cabinet Decision No. 100/11/2016 and entrusted various
important subjects to it” the Minister told to the House . He was replying to a Question by Javid
Husssain Beigh.
The subjects/components including Emergency Relief Organization,
Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation, management of all issues
relating to Kashmiri Migrants, issues pertaining to Displaced Persons of 1947,
Chhamb DPs of 1965/71 and West Pakistan Refugees, management of issues
pertaining to people affected due to firing on LoC and International Borders
were assigned to the Department.
The Minister said that to meet unforeseen exigencies and carrying out
various activities under these components an allocation of Rs.362.01 crore was
made for during the year 2017-18 under State and Central sectors.
“Of this an
amount of Rs. 147.55 crore stands released to various implementing agencies
till date,” said the Minister.
