New Delhi, Jan 4: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Deepak Bajpai's petitition, which had questioned the validity of the summons issued to him by a trial court to face the proceedings as an accused in a criminal defamation case filed against him by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The top court three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, did not find any merit in Bajpai's petition, and thereby dismissed it.
"We are rejecting the plea filed by the petitioner, Deepak Bajpai," the three-judge bench of the apex court said. UNI
