New Delhi, Jan 15: The Supreme Court today stayed the initiation of criminal contempt notice
against lower court Additional District Judge (ADJ) Dr Kamini Lau.
A three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by
Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices AM
Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, asked Dr Lau to tender an unconditional apology
to the Delhi High Court judge within a week.
After hearing Dr Lau's plea, the three-judge bench of the Apex Court today granted her relief and stayed the Delhi High Court order which had initiated the criminal contempt proceedings against her.
Dr Lau had knocked the doors of the Apex Court challenging the Delhi High Court order which had initiated the criminal contempt proceedings against her.
"We stay the initiation of criminal contempt proceedings by the Delhi High Court. The petitioner (Dr Lau) has to tender an unconditional apology to the Delhi High Court judge within a week," the three-judge bench of the Apex Court today said. UNI
