Srinagar, Feb 28: Life returned to normal after remaining affected due to strike in Tral, where a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant was killed on February 26 in a grenade blast at a police station, where he was detained after his arrest in north Kashmir last month.
A magisterial inquiry has already been ordered into the incident.
Shops and business establishments reopened in Tral and adjoining areas in south Kashmir district of Pulwama this morning and traffic was also plying normally. However, additional security forces remained deployed to prevent any law and order problem. After the death of militant, clashes erupted and security forces had to burst teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators.
However, later a  police spokesperson said that at 1230 hrs, an HM militant, identified as Mushtaq Chopan, who was in custody of Police Station Tral, tried to escape from the police station, wearing a burqa. However, when he was near the main gate, someone from outside lobbed a grenade, as part of a planned conspiracy to divert the attention, so he could escape conveniently, he further said.
He said the grenade exploded inside the station, resulting in on the spot death of the militant and injury to Constable Mehrajuddin.
Meanwhile, he said a magisterial enquiry has been initiated into the incident. Chopan was apprehended by Sopore police last month, he added. UNI
