New Delhi, Feb 14: The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi turned four on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said corruption had reduced in the Capital after the people elected an honest government three years ago.
'Many hurdles came but we fought for your rights and my biggest strength is you,' Mr Kejriwal tweeted.
Now, the CM added, every penny was being spent on developmental works which include electricity, water, school, roads, mohalla clinics and flyovers.
Addressing a programme on the occasion, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and all cabinet ministers of the AAP dispensation, Mr Kejriwal said maximum budget allocations will be made on education and health sectors.
Mr Kejriwal highlighted the work done by the Delhi Government during the past three years.
Dwelling on the health sector, he said by the end of this year, an additional 3,000 beds in Delhi Government hospitals will be ready.
By the next year 2,500 beds will be ready.
The Aam Aadmi Party had stormed to power in the Capital three years ago, obliterating the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Healthcare
Mr Kejriwal said the Delhi Government was not against private hospitals in Delhi.
'But we want that the capacity and quality of Delhi Government hospitals should also be increased so that people do not need to go to private hospitals,' the CM said.
'We have done a lot of work during the past three years. Major work and maximum investment has been made by our government in the expansion of health and education sectors,' the former Indian Revenue Service officer said.
'There is an expansion in superspeciality and multispeciality hospitals and a 3 tier system in health sector —like Mohalla clinic, polyclinic, superspecialty centre has been prepared by our government' he said.
Mr Kejriwal said 12 per cent of budget is spent on health of Delhiites.
Education front
A new model, he said, is going to be established in the education system.
Mr Kejriwal said the previous government had opened 33 schools in past 15 years but the AAP government will complete 48 new schools by the end of its four years.
He added that 7,030 classrooms in government schools were made. There are 8,000 new classrooms under construction and will be completed this year.
A good samaritan policy, Mr Kejriwal said, has been prepared by the Delhi Government for those who meet with an accident on roads.
'So if anyone sees someone who has met with an accident on the road, then the person can take the injured to the nearest hospital and the Delhi government will pay,' he said.
Power tariff
Mr Kejriwal said power tariff had been halved after the AAP government took over.
'In entire country, only Delhi has less power tariff and there are less power cuts in the city,' he said.
On developmental works, the Chief Minister said 11 flyovers had been completed in the past three years. He said 16,000 community toilets have been made, besides 90 new night shelters.
Major landscaping will be carried out in the Capital and plants will be sown along larger roads. A tree plantation movement will be undertaken.
'An Eastern and Western peripheral expressway will be completed by June. And this will be a relief for Delhi people and reduce pollution,' he said.
On public transport, the Delhi Chief Minister said 2,000 new buses will be introduced, 500 e-buses, and e rickshaws will be promoted.
The Chief Minister said, '20,000 litres water is free for a family and 448 pipelines in Delhi colonies have been made. Within 2 years, we assure that every home will get water through their own water connection rather than from outside,' he said.
Maximum investment, he said, will made on roads.
'A massive investment on roads and narrow lanes will be done. CCTVs will be installed throughout Delhi,' he said.
AAP vision
Mr Kejriwal said the vision of the AAP was to make Delhi a modern, vibrant and pollution free city.
'When a government is honest then everything is possible,' Mr Kejriwal said.
'Round the year, a pollution study will be carried out, and a machine will be procured that will tell the pollution level in real time and what is the cause,' he said.
Mr Kejriwal quoted the findings of a Central Vigilance Committee that corruption has reduced in Delhi.
'Doorstep Delivery of Public Services will be implemented in the coming days,' Mr Kejriwal said.
'Door step delivery of ration is going to start soon,' Mr Kejriwal said.
'This year, plans to set up free Wi-Fi in Delhi is in progress and I am hopeful that by the end of this year, free Wi-Fi will start,' he added. UNI
