Agartala, Feb 21: Palash Debbarma, a young face of CPI (M)’s frontal organization-TYF will contest the by-election of Charilam Assembly constituency scheduled to be held on March 12 next, CPI-M announced today.
Palash, divisional secretary of Tribal Youth Federation (TYF,) has been selected as Left Front candidate for Charilam by-election due the death of the CPI-M candidate on February 11 last.
The ECI has already issued notification for conducting the by-election while last date for filing of nomination by CPI (M) will be on February 22 next. As per the decision, only CPI (M) will be allowed to file fresh nomination and other nominations are declared as invalid.
Ramendra Narayan Debbarma, a sitting of Charilam in Sepahijala district died of cardiac arrest on February 11 that has resulted in holding by-election to the Assembly constituency. UNI
