Hospet,
Karnataka, Feb 10: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday slammed
Prime Minister Narendra Modi for driving the Nation backward by looking through
the 'rear mirror' and this may lead to a major accident.
Speaking at a public meeting on the opening day of his
four-day visit to Karnataka in the run up to May Assembly election, he took a
serious note of a banter by Mr Modi in the Rajya Sabha against Congress member
Renuka Choudhury saying, 'the Prime Minister should drive the vehicle ahead
rather than looking at the rear view mirror,'
He said the people of the country wants to know what is lying ahead and not expect a top man to look at the past. His comments comes in the wake of Mr Modi's comments in Rajya Sabha and Mr Gandhi said the Prime Minister took the name of Congress everytime he spoke in the house or outside, without much conviction, but should take a cue from the administration of Congress Government in the state , which was always forward looking, pro-poor, Farmers, SC-ST communities and the labour class.
Mr Gandhi questioned Mr Modi on what did the demonitisation of higher currency notes had achieved and the effects on the 'wrongly' implementation of the GST in the country by the BJP-led NDA government.
This had led to great suffering on part of farmers, small businessmen and general public. 'Mr Modi only benefited the top business class and none on the ground were benefitted by the policies of the Modi government,' he stated.
The Congress leader said the good intentions of introducing GST by the previous UPA government was negated by the BJP government instead of a tax friendly regime that benefit the nation, a 'Gabbar Singh tax' was introduced. This had put paid to the growth of small businesses and led to huge loss of employment that youth of India are 'angry with', he said. UNI
