Mehbooba distressed over more civilian deaths in Shopian shootout

Srinagar, Mar 5: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday expressed grief over death of civilians allegedly caught in the crossfire in south Kashmir district of Shopian, where two Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed in a brief encounter on Sunday night.
“Deeply distressed by more deaths of civilians caught in the crossfire in Shopian. My heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s families,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Meanwhile, with the recovery of two more bodies on Monday morning, the death toll in last night’s encounter in Shopian, has risen to six, including two militants.
The Army has claimed that besides a militant, three others were Over Ground Workers (OGWs), were killed in the encounter while police has initiated investigation of the case. UNI
