Ballabhgarh lynching: Apex court stays proceedings

New Delhi, Mar 19: The Supreme Court on Monday stayed trial proceedings in a Faridabad, Haryana, court after hearing a petition filed by the father of a boy, Junaid, who was allegedly lynched in a moving train last year,in what was asserted to be a crime with communal undercurrents. 

The bench of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud ruled that it would later examine if the Central Bureau of Investigation should be handed over the probe in the case. 
It sought a response from the state and the CBI. 
Junaid was allegedly brutally stabbed to death in a train last year, his father contended. 
In his petition, Junaid's father challenged the state High Court order denying him relief. 
He claimed that hate crime offences should be invoked and moved the apex court for relief in his case. UNI
