JAMMU, MARCH 15- Directorate of Social Welfare Jammu organized an
awareness programme under Innovation and Outreach Activities at Government
Polytechnic College, Jammu as a part of fortnightly campaign under Pan India
expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative which concluded here today.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan was
the chief guest on the occasion.
Additional District Development Commissioner,
Suriya Jabeen, Progamme Officer ICDS Jammu ,Natasha Kalsotra, District Social
Welfare Officer, Dr. Vikas Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Jammu, Sanjay besides
other officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner
stressed on the importance of education for girls and said that an educated
girl can contribute both towards the progress of family as well as country.
The DC laid focus on the various Government schemes
launched for the welfare of girls and urged them to avail benefits of these
schemes.
He
lauded the district administration for their continuous efforts resulting in
uptrend of balancing the sex ratio. He urged upon the concerned officers to
launch drive in coming days for ensuring maximum admission of girl students in
school and colleges.
A cultural programme was also organized on the
occasion in which skits and songs were performed depicting the importance of
girl education.
Pertinently, District Task Force Jammu under PAN
India expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign has executed a series of
activities through Nodal Officer BBBP under overall supervision of DDC Jammu.
