KARGIL, MARCH 26: Chairman
Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today visited Zojila Pass and took stock
of snow clearance operations on Srinagar- Kargil road.
The Chairman was informed that the road shall be
opened for movement of light vehicles in a couple of days. Meanwhile, around 30 light vehicles crossed over to
either side of the highway from Sonamarg and Minamarg.
CEC Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Deputy
Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, SSP Kargil T Gyalpo, ADC Ganderbal,
Deputy SP Traffic Ganderbal, officers of Project Vijayak and Beacon besides
officers of Civil and Police Administration accompanied the Chairman.
The
Chairman said that he has taken up the issue of handing over of snow clearance
operations from Zero Point to Sonamarg to Project Vijayak with the Union
Minister for Defence and the Director General Border Roads.
Haji Anayat also appreciated the efforts of Project
Vijayak, Project Beacon, District Administration Ganderbal and Kargil as well
as the Engineer, dozer operators and laborers for speedy and timely snow
clearance operations on the highway this year.
He
also impressed upon the concerned agencies to clear up minor clearance works,
besides fulfilling necessary official formalities at the earliest so that the
highway is thrown open for vehicular traffic in due course of time.
The
Chairman said that efforts will be made to officially reopen the road for
vehicular traffic and he is in consultations with the Divisional Administration
Kashmir as well as BRO authorities.
Meanwhile,
30 light vehicles including passenger vehicles and those carrying vegetables
and other essentials were allowed to move towards Srinagar and Kargil.
ADC Ganderbal Shahnawaz Bukhari and SDM Kangan
Mehrajuddin Shah also accompanied the Chairman.
