Bhubaneswar, Mar 05: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched the “ Ama Gaon Ama
Vikash” yojana to connect the people with the administration on the occasion of
102nd birth anniversary of legendary leader Biju Patnaik being observed in
Odisha as Panchayat Raj divas.
Launching the Yojana through video-conferencing, from the
state Secretariat, Mr Patnaik said it is a people’s programme and would be
implemented with the funds of the Odia people.
Mr Patnaik directly interacted with the people of four Panchyats—Narayanpatna in Koraput district, Khairabad in Jajpur, Sasan in Sambalpur and Sankuda in Ganjam district through video conferencing and discussed their problems and about the development of their villages.
After listening to the problems, the Chief Minister approved 32 projects worth Rs two crore and stressed on early completion of the projects.
The villages were selected on the basis of infrastructure development, requirement and feed backs.
Official sources said the chief minister will directly interact with the people of various Panchayats twice in a week to ensure development of villages.
Talking to villagers, he said March 5 is the birthday of Biju Patnaik adding that the contribution of Biju Patnaik for the development of villages and strengthening of panchayati raj system cannot be forgotten.
Earlier in the morning the government organized a mini marathon from Forest Park to Kalinga Stadium to mark the occasion.Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera flagged off the marathon.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tribute to the great leader on his birth day.
Mr Modi tweeted ‘' Remembering the great Biju Babu on his Jayanti. He was a visionary who tirelessly served the people of Odisha and the nation. His efforts empowered lakhs of people and freed them from the clutches of poverty.’’
Kendrapara BJD MP Baijyanta Panda also tweeted ‘’ This tallest son of Modern Odisha wd’ve been 102 today & was widely celebrated in several nations. Besides long family connections, it was my proud privilege to have been inducted in political work under his guidance in his last years.’’
In the evening the Biju Janata Dal is organizing a meeting at the state Party Headquarter to celebrate the occasion. UNI
