KATHUA, MARCH 07: A joint meeting of officers of line departments and representatives of religious organisations was held here today to review the arrangements for the Navratra festival.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, discussed arrangements for security,  sanitation, drinking water, power supply, first aid facilities at the prominent religious places for the convenience of the devotees.  
Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of the concerned department to start the repair of bridle paths leading to the temples and shrines. Similarly, instructions were passed to the PHE functionaries to ensure regular supply of drinking water at the shrines and yatra routes. The PDD was directed to ensure un-interrupted power supply to all the shrines.  
 Health Department was directed to make available necessary medical facilities with life saving drugs and first aid along with team of doctors at all the shrines.  The CAPD department and Municipal Committee were directed to intensify checking in the markets   around the temples and shrines to keep check on overcharging and quality of eatables.
 RTO Kathua was directed to provide additional transport facilities on the routes of various shrines and display fare list at bus stand for convenience of the pilgrims. The fire and emergency service department was instructed to deploy fire tenders at Jasrota Mata, Sukrala Mata and Mahanpur.
 The local traffic officials and Tehsildars were directed to identify   parking places adjacent to the shrines to avoid congestion during the festival season. The MVD department was directed to intensify vigil to check overloading of passenger vehicles in hilly areas.
The CMO and Fire and Emergency Services were directed to share contact numbers of drivers of Ambulance and Fire Tenders with the concerned ADCs and SDMs to meet any kind of exigency.
  Members of management committees of temples and shrines projected various problems and demands for which the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers for   early action.
The meeting was attended by SSP Suleman Chowdhary, ADC   Rishpal Singh, ADC Billawar Joginder Singh Rai, ACR, SDMs and  officers of various departments and representatives of various committees.
