Need to protect IPR for brand building: Prabhu

New Delhi, Mar 16: Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu has stressed the need to protect the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to make Brand India an acceptable brand.

Participating in a two-day conference and exhibition that opened on Thursday here, Mr Prabhu said, “those countries, companies, even Indian companies that are going to invest huge amount of money into brand building, creating new rights in form of patents in form of copyrights or new product development or molecule development of a pharmaceutical company all of them would need a protection of IPR.”
He reiterated the government’s commitment towards maintaining the intellectual property rights in India to enhance Brand Indian position.
“It is a very important event in which together the government and the industry come forward to create a not only a brand for a corporate entity, but creating ultimately a bigger brand i.e. Brand India,” Mr Prabhu said.
In a strong move against counterfeiting and enabling the “Make-Sure-India” movement in the country, two-day conference cum exhibition – The Authentication Forum 2018 opened on Thursday. This forum is organised by Authentication Solutions Providers Association (ASPA).
