Bhubaneswar, Mar 17: On his first official visit to Odisha, President Ram Nath Kovind arrived
here on Saturday on a two-day visit to the state to attend several functions.
The President arrived in a special Aircraft of Air India ’Raj
Kamal' at the Biju Patnaik International Airport along with his wife and was
accorded a warm welcome.
Odisha Governor S C Jamir, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, Chief Secretary A P Padhi and Director General of Police R P Sharma received him at the airport.
Mr.Kovind was given a ceremonial guard of honour at the airport from where he straight drive to Cuttack by road amid tight security .
In Cuttack, the President will visit the birth place of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose at Odia Bazar to pay tribute to the great leader and proceed to Anand Bhawan, the ancestral house of legendary Biju Patnaik where he would dedicate the Anand Bhawan Museum and Learning Centre to the people of Odisha.
The President will later visit the National Law University to deliver the third foundation lecture .He will leave for Puri in the evening and stay at the Special Circuit House.
On Sunday morning,the President and his wife will visit the 12th centuary Jagannath temple to offer prayer to Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balavadra and Devi Subhadra.
The President will address the centenary celebration of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sangathan at Puri and return to Bhubaneswar to proceed to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to grace the convocation of IIT and inaugurate the ICT-IOC( Institute of Chemical Technology-Indian Oil Corporation Bhubaneswar campus.
Mr.Kovind will also lay the foundation stone of a skill development institute set up by the IOCL before returning to New Delhi. UNI
