New Delhi, Mar 19: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday underlined that consultation, conversation and confluence of ideas were vital for democracy
"both inside and outside Parliament".
He was speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed
Sardar Patel Conference Hall at the Vice President Secretariat named after the country's first Home
Minister. Apart from interactions with important foreign delegations, the Vice
President will meet various delegates in the conference hall. It will also be
used to host cultural events.
Describing him as an embodiment of Indian culture, Mr Naidu hailed Sardar Patel, who was known as the 'Iron Man', as unifier of India. Sardar Patel integrated more than 500 princely states to bring unity, he said, adding that 'he is a role model to me and was instrumental in creating services like, IAS and IPS.'
On the occasion, he complimented Urban Development Ministry, Central Public Works Department, Shirke group and NDMC for completing the construction of the hall in a record three months' time, an official release here said. UNI
