Jammu, Mar 30: Asserting that major tragedy has been averted timely, BSF DG K K Sharma on Friday said that specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in Sunderbani area were provided by
intelligence agencies of BSF to the security forces.
“BSF gave specific inputs about presence of terrorists in Sunderbani to the security forces and timely action prevented major tragedy,” Mr Sharma here told reporters on Friday morning.
The BSF chief was here in the town to review operational preparedness and progress of ongoing pilot projects along international border.
“Had there been no inputs, the terrorists were very much close to the Sunderbani area and major happening could have happened,” he said adding, “the four LeT terrorists were neutralized timely in a ditch.
There may be splinter groups of these terrorists but we are on alert, all security forces are on their toes to foil their nefarious designs.”
He however, said that their target could not be specific because in such a situation, whatever comes first is their target.
On staying for 3 to 4 days in the area, Mr Sharma said, “the terrorists might not have changed their strategy but it is apprehended that they have lost contact with their guides on this side due to which something went wrong in their planning.”
“We have also cross border inputs but we are ready to face any challenge and will not allow them to succeed in their plans, "he added. UNI
