Chennai, Mar 17: Observing that Indian classical music was a treasure trove, Vice-President M
Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday said music could provide the much-needed soothing
touch in the increasingly conflict-ridden world and bring in a sense of
melodious balance in a world of emotional turbulence.
Inaugurating the Centenary celebrations of legendary vocalist
D K Pattammal here, he said 'Indian classical music is a treasure trove, a rich
legacy we have collectively inherited and it has constantly been enriched by
great musicians like DK Pattammal, who rose to become one of the female trinity
of Carnatic music'.
He said 'in our increasingly conflict-ridden world, music can provide the much needed soothing touch. In a world of emotional turbulence it can bring in a sense of melodious balance', he added.
Mr Venkaiah said the Indian classical music, especially carnatic music, has woven noble thoughts, ennobling emotions and melodious notes into a unique seamless, delightful experience.
'This blending needs to be appreciated. This cultural heritage and unified holistic perspective on life needs to be celebrated', Mr Naidu said. UNI
