DC for more coordination within Govt Departments
SAMBA, MARCH 12: National Development Foundation J&K Jammu with
sponsorship from CCDU Department of PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control
organized District Level Advocacy workshop under NRDWP at Government Degree
College Samba.
Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda was chief
guest on the occasion.
Various stakeholders including Department of
Education, Rural Development, Health, ICDS, Social Welfare besides youth and
students participated in the programme. Prominent among others present on the
occasion include Principal Govt. Degree College Samba, G.S. Rakhwal, Executive
Engineer PHE Samba Er. Surinder Abrol and District Social Welfare Officer Samba
Shafqat, CDPOs, ZEOs and civil society members.
DC in her address called upon the departments to
develop close coordination among themselves. She emphasized that this is high
time to save water for the ensuing generation. She complimented NDF and CCDU
for organizing programmes on such an important issues. She asked people to get
their water tested through Field Testing kits and PHE Labs in Samba.
Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus NDF was the key
resource person in the workshop. He covered different aspects of Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene, its judicious use and upkeep, rain water harvesting
etc. A nukkad natak on WASH was also presented by Samooh Theatre. Water testing
through field testing was also demonstrated during the workshop. A pledge on
water safety was also taken by all the participants.
