'Rs 7.66 cr JMC
works taken up in Gandhi Nagar constituency’
JAMMU, APRIL 12:
The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, Thursday, said that the State is witnessing a new era of development under
the present regime adding that the government will continue with its
development agenda to meet the aspirations of the people of the state.
The Speaker was
chairing a meeting of officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) convened to
review the progress of ongoing developmental works taken up in Gandhi Nagar
Constituency.
Reiterating that
the government would leave no stone unturned in extending enhanced basic
services to every part of the state with focus on unattended areas, the Speaker
said massive development activities started across the state reflect a visible
change in the living standard of the people.
The Speaker
directed JMC to put in extra efforts for execution of all ongoing and upcoming
projects initiated for the development of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
The meeting was
informed that involving a cost of Rs 7.66 crore, as many as 175 developmental
works, which include blacktopping of roads and inner links, upgrading of
drinking water facilities, construction of drains, installation of
transformers, installation of Lighting System on roads etc, have been taken by
the Jammu Municipal Corporation in the Constituency. Of these 62 works have been
completed and 36 are in progress while as remaining works have been tendered
for early execution, the meeting was informed.
While reviewing the
progress on the construction of Rs 15 lakh Community Hall near Baba Yamama Puri
at Channi Himmat ward No 51, the meeting was informed that the first floor of
the Hall has been completed. The Hall will be available for holding family,
social and religious functions by the locals of the area at a nominal rent, the
meeting was informed.
The Speaker
directed the concerned authorities to keep check on encroachment on the roads
in Gandhi Nagar area especially at Apsara Road, Gole Market and near Government
Hospital. He also instructed the JMC authorities to make fool proof
arrangements for lifting of garbage from the area and keep the roads neat and
clean.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation,
Ramesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner, Works, Khushal Chand, Chief Transport
Officer, Tariq Raina, Executive Engineer, Rajesh Gupta, Health Officer JMC, Mohammad
Saleem, Junior Engineers, Ward Officers and the senior officers of Assembly
Secretariat including Vinod Malhotra and Ashwani Kumar.
