Meanwhile, Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will continue to ply one-way only on 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu and national highway connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir. However, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will ply from both sides on the highways.
The Kishtwar-Sinthan in Jammu region and Anatnag in south Kashmir, road remained closed since December last year due to accumulation of several feet of snow.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) vice president G M Saroori, who is MLA Inderwal alleged that despite less snowfall this winter, the authorities have failed to reopen the road in March-April.
He claimed that utilized his own resources and clear the snow on the road from Chatroo to Aloo Sithan. However, the snow clearance operation towards Anantnag was going on very slow, he alleged.
Meanwhile, a traffic police official told UNI on Thursday that only LMV traffic will ply on the Mughal road, connecting Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region with Shopian in south Kashmir. Today traffic will ply from Shopian to Buffliaz, he said adding no HMV will be allowed on the road till further orders. The road is still very narrow at several places and vehicles had to pass through big snow walls.
He said LMVs will continue to ply from both Srinagar and Jammu side. However, HMV traffic will be allowed from Srinagar to Jammu on Thursday and no heavy vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction, he added.
Similarly, LMV will be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Leh national highway though heavy vehicles will continue to ply one side only.UNI
