KUPWARA, APRIL 4: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting to mobilise efforts for making Kupwara Open Defecation Free (ODF) and nominated Tehsildars, BMOs and CDPOs as Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM) ambassadors for achieving the target (ODF) by the earliest.
It was decided that the concerned Officers will adopt villages that have low Individual Household Latrine (IHHL) coverage and was decided that concerned BDOs along with VLW, GRS, panchayat inspectors and revenue field functionaries including Patwaries, Numberdars and Chowkidars shall cooperate with the nominated officers.
Reviewing the status of IHHL, it was given out that out of 24 blocks, seven blocks viz Langate, TrehgamNatnausa, Tangdar, Teetwal, Machil and keran have achieved the targets of ODF and 107 Panchayats out of 356 panchayats were also declared ODF. 
Speaking on the occasion the DDC stressed upon the officers to coordinate and cooperate with each other so that the target of Kupwara is declared as ODF district at an earliest. 
The DDC also asked the nominated officers to interact with general public of the concerned villages and make them aware about the benefits of construction of IHHL under SBM.
The Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildars, BMOs, BDOs and CDPOs besides other concerned Officers were present on the occasion.
