Shimla, Apr 18: A devastating fire broke out in Keshani village of Tikkar Gram Panchayat under Rohru Tehsil of this district, gutting more than 50 wooden houses and many cowsheds.
Massive loss to the property was reported and 40 odd families rendered homeless in the cold night, 110 km from this capital town.
Former Gram Panchayat president of Tikkar Rajinder Singh told on phone that prima facie it appears that fire broke out from electric short circuit. It spread in entire Keshani village and most of timber wood houses.
The fire reduced about 50 houses to ashes, including the cowsheds in the villages, forcing people to rush out of their homes.
He said that fire broke out at nearly 0230 hrs in the mid night brought under control at 0630 hrs. 
The fire tenders could not reach the fire spot as village was about 200 meter away from the nearest link road.
An estimated loss of Rs 15 crore was registered in the fire. 
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed shock over the incident and assured all possible assistance to the victims. 
No loss of life and livestock was reported in the blaze. UNI
