SRINAGAR, MAY 10:
Sh. Manoj Pant, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, J&K, called on
Governor N.N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan today.
Sh. Pant briefed
Governor about the efforts being made by his Department to undertake speedy
afforestation in the State.
Governor and Sh.
Pant discussed issues related to conservation of biodiversity, soil and water
conservation and the need to take effective steps for ensuring against
environmental pollution. Governor pointed to the need for stepping up the use
of the latest techniques and technologies for enhancing and maintaining the
forest cover in the State.
Governor also drew the PCCF’s attention to the rapidly growing
population of monkeys and the serious requirement of putting a pragmatic action
plan in place to deal with this problem.
