SAMBA, JUNE 19: District administration Samba today finalised the
anti-flood action plan to meet any eventuality during the upcoming monsoon
season.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba S Rajinder Singh Tara chaired the meeting which was attended by ADC, SDM,
Executive Engineer Flood Control Division, Engineers and officers of I&FC,
Town Drainage Division, PDD,EOs Muncipalties, BSNL, R&B, RDD, Education,
Medical, ARTO, representatives of SDRF , civil
Defence and officers from army and BSF.
Deputy Commissioner reviewed the department wise
preparedness with regard to stocking of essential
commodities, medical facilities, ambulances, dewatering pumps, rescue vehicles,
tents and arrangements made by PHE, Medical and Police departments to meet the
challenges.
The meeting was informed that a control room has
been set up from July 1, 2018 to September
30th at Flood Control division Samba with contact
numbers 01923-243248, 94196-64262 to remaim
functional round the clock to monitor the situation and for timely coordinated
action.

room.
The DDC asked Flood Control Department to monitor
all embankments in the flood prone areas and take advance measures to plug
possibility of breach of protection bunds.
The officers of Army, Civil Defence were directed
to keep their men and machinery ready including tents, sand bags, ropes, boats
and helicopters, life jackets besides stretchers, emergency lights for carrying
out rescue operations.
The DDC called for maintaining close coordination
among the departments and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for quick
response to the situation emerging due to heavy rains and other eventualities.
The meeting discussed in detail the precautionary measures to be taken in the
flood prone areas particularly along River Devak, Basantar flood channels and
numerous local nallahs.
The DDC directed flood control department to strengthen
communication system. He stressed upon forecasting, gathering of Information
and dissemination of information to the general public. He asked flood control
department to share forecasting information well in advance with security
forces. He further asked police to make action plan for traffic management. He
directed ARTO to make transport plan for evacuation in case of any emergency. He further directed EOs of all
Muncipalties for de-silting of drainages and removal of polythene to avoid water logging.
The DDC directed concerned officers for
identification of educational institutions, Panchayat Ghars and community halls
to accommodate evacuated people if required.
