ANANTNAG,
SEPTEMBER 05: The District Development Commissioner,
Anantnag Mr. Mohammad Younis Malik, today convened a meeting of the officers of
Department of Posts (DoP) Anantnag, representatives of various banks and other
district officers, regarding India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) services, launched
by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 1st of September 2018.
On the occasion
experts from Department of Posts (DoP) Anantnag detailed about various services
being provided by IPPB for the general public. Threadbare discussions were held
regarding the effective implementation of the (IPPB) services.
The experts
informed the meeting that the IPPB will be like any other bank but its
operations will be on a smaller scale without involving any credit risk and is
expected to reach customers mainly through their mobile phones rather than
traditional bank branches. The accounts can be opened instantly through their
respective mobile apps just by providing details like Aadhaar Number with KYC
verification, also doorstep banking service is one of the most distinct
features of the IPPB, thereby making it very accessible.
Speaking on the
occasion, DDC Anantnag stressed upon the proper dissemination of the
information regarding the IPPB, so that benefit reaches upto the grass root
level. He stressed on the need to aware the general public about the latest
technology and techniques regarding the sustainable cashless transactions, so
that maximum could be achieved in minimum time frame.
The DDC added
that there are dozens of social security schemes available for the needy, but
need of the hour is to create awareness among general public and close
coordination among various banks and government departments so that
beneficiaries are benefitted at the right time. He further said that IPPB and
other banks can play a vital role in making cashless transactions easy and
accessible for the common public.
Among others
the meeting was attended by Postmaster Head Post Office Anantnag, Lead Bank
Manager Anantnag, District Social Welfare Officer Anantnag, Chief Horticulture
Officer Anantnag, District Agriculture Officer Anantnag, DPO Anantnag and
representatives of various banks & Traders Association Anantnag.
