Jammu, Sept 13: With the continuation of the provision of the motorised tri-scooters to the physically challenged persons, Former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today handed over such TVS Wego Scooty to Bawa Singh S/o Surat Singh at Darap area of the Gandhi Nagar Constituency. The provision of such type of scooters to the physically challenged persons is covered through Social welfare department by State Rehabilitation Council.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gupta said that there many schemes of the social welfare department for up-lifting of the weaker sections. He quoted the Pension Schemes, scholarship scheme, state marriage assistance program etc. He said that social workers from all the fields should come forward for helping such people of the society who are deprived of any type of amenity. Gupta emphasised on formation of small groups of 5 persons in every locality and devote at least two hours a day for identifying the persons who need any type of assistance, so that they are deprived of the welfare schemes of centre as well state Government schemes. Every Government servant is bound to serve the people but the role of the social activists is pivotal for reaching out to the needy persons and makes the schemes launched by Government. Gupta said that government is focused on empowering all citizens and create an inclusive environment for differently able people so that they can work normally in the society and live a dignified life with respect and honour. ''The aim of the government is to help these people grow into self reliant, independent individuals'', he added. Gupta said that to help them, government has made provisions to provide loan facilities so that they can work and open their own venture and earn their livelihood. He said that multiple schemes have been launched by central and state government to empower them besides measures are also being undertaken to make access to public infrastructure friendly for differently-abled people by constructing ramps in Government offices, educational benefits, review of reservation rules besides availability of motorized tri-scooters.

The beneficiaries and residents of the areas also hailed the initiative of the local MLA for helping the needy in every noble cause.

District Social Welfare Officer Ranbireshwar Singh Jamwal, Baldev Blowria, Harbans Choudhary, Jaswant Singh, Mohinder Singh and several others were also present.
