New Delhi, Aug 1: The Cabinet today cleared the purchase of 51 per cent controlling stake in IDBI Bank by state-run insurer Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), sources said.

As per the proposal, the debt-laden bank will issue preferential shares to Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) to raise capital.

The LIC-IDBI deal has been approved, a source said after the meeting of Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

LIC already has 7-7.5 per cent stake in the bank and will acquire the remaining for majority holding.

Although, the proposed acquisition by LIC would not bring any money to the government, the bank would get capital support between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 13,000 crore, depending on the share price of the bank.

New Delhi, May 14 :  Officers and employees of government-run IDBI Bank will go on a four-day strike from May 16 to protest against the unreasonable delay in settlement of their overdue wage revision.
"It has been decided to revive agitation program including non-strike and strike actions under the banner of United Forum of IDBI Officers and Employees (UFIOE),” a joint statement from the All India IDBI Employees Association and All India IDBI Officer Association said.
Wage revision for Employees as well as Officers in IDBI Bank is due since November 01, 2012. Employees and Officers of IDBI Bank are not party to Industry Level wage settlement between Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
Repeated efforts and endeavours have been made by “All India IDBI Officers’ Association” (AIIDBIOA) and “All India IDB Employees’ Association” (AIIDBEA) from July, 2016 to settle the wage negotiations for the wage period from November, 2012 to October, 2017 amicably with Bank Management.
However, due to recalcitrant and premeditated approach of the Bank, issue of overdue wage revision continues to remain unresolved, the statement said.UNI
