(Japan), Nov 2: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team were impressive in their
effort against Kazakhstan to register a 7-1 win in the Quarter Final of the
Women’s Asia Cup 2017 here at the Kakamigahara Kawasaki Stadium on Thursday.
Dragflicker Gurjit Kaur was in sublime form as she pumped three goals (4', 42'
and 56') while Navneet Kaur scored twice (22' and 27') and Deep Grace converted
two PCs (16' and 41') to ensure India remained unbeaten in the tournament and
also advance to the Semi Final.
After an early setback when Vera Domashneva scored a field goal in the 2nd
minute of the match to give Kazakhstan 1-0 lead, India made amends when a
tactical manoeuvre in the circle won them a PC in the 4th minute.
In-form dragflicker Gurjit Kaur hardly broke a sweat to fiercely strike the
ball past Kazakhstan goalkeeper Guzal Bakhavaddin to equalize. UNI

(Japan), Oct 31: Indian Women’s Hockey Team continued their winning form
as they beat Malaysia 2-0 in their last Pool A match here at the Women’s Asia
Cup 2017 held at Kakamigahara Kawasaki Stadium on Tuesday.
This is India’s third consecutive win in the Pool stage ensuring they go into
the quarterfinal as table toppers with nine points.
It was late goals by Vandana Katariya (54’) and Gurjit Kaur (55’) that saw the
team through.
In their previous match, India set up a sensational 4-1 win against
higher-ranked China.
The first quarter saw both teams play cautiously.
With Malaysia playing defensive hockey, India threaded patiently without making
any unforced errors that would bring advantage to Malaysia. UNI

Japan, Oct 30: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team came up with an all-round
performance to beat dangerous China 4-1 in their second Pool A match at the
Women’s Asia Cup 2017 here at Kakamigahara Kawasaki Stadium on Monday.
It was goals by Gurjit Kaur (19’), Navjot Kaur (32’), Neha Goyal (49’) and Rani
(58’) that ensured India kept up their winning momentum in the tournament.
The team had previously beaten Singapore 10-0 in their opening match.
India were quick to get off the blocks as they won a penalty corner in the
first 15 minutes of the match to put China on the back foot.
Though the PC attempt was well defended by China and ended the first quarter in
a stalemate, the second quarter saw India’s dragflick specialist Gurjit Kaur
convert a splendid goal to give India a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.
The following minutes saw both teams play cautiously.
While India rotated the ball with calm heads and made their way into the
striking circle, China were strong on defence to deny India any success. UNI

(Japan), Oct 28: Indian Women’s Hockey Team got off to a roaring start on
Saturday at the Women’s Asia Cup 2017 here.
The team led by Rani dominated against Singapore with a comfortable 10-0 win.
It was goals by Navneet Kaur (3’ and 41’), Rani (15’ and 18’), Lalremsiami
(18’), Deep Grace Ekka (25’), Navjot Kaur (30’ and 50’), Gurjit Kaur (41’) and
Sonika (45’) that ensured India notched up the winning points in their opening
match in Pool A.
India began with positive intent, attacking Singapore’s circle constantly
finding an opportunity to score.
The effort worked as the team won back-to-back PCs in the first quarter.
Though the first PC was saved by Singapore goalkeeper Felissa Lai, it hardly
dented India’s spirit as they were precise in their counter.
It was Navneet and Rani’s goals in the 3rd and 15th minute that gave India a
2-0 lead in the first quarter. UNI
