SRINAGAR, JUNE 18: The Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today mourned the killing of senior Journalist and Chief-in-Editor of Rising Kashmir.
A two-minute silence was also observed by the Committee in respect of the departed soul.
The Committee which met here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Ali Mohammad Sagar discussed the CAG's Audit Paras pertaining to the different departments, besides strategy for upcoming meeting of the Committee and work load of pending petitions before the Committee.
Legislators, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Asgar Ali Karbalai, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Abdul Majid Larmi and Mohammad Khursheed Alam attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to make the Committee more viable and result oriented.
The Committee asked the Government to issue a circular to the all departments regarding timely submission of their reply to the Assembly Secretariat and furnish the same to the Chairman and members of the Committee at least three-days prior to the next meeting.
The Committee directed the AG Audit to ensure that the reply is provided in the shape of chronological order for the convenience of the members as well as Chairman of the Committee.
The Committee also directed the Secretary, Assembly to provide requisite reply received from the different departments and send the same to members of the Committee on their email addresses so that they can go through it and prepare accordingly.
The Chairman asked the members of the Committee to attend the meeting of the Committee regularly so that the quorum is maintained. It was also decided in the meeting that Health and Medical Education Department to be discussed in the next meeting of the Committee.
Among others, Secretary, Assembly R L Sharma, Additional Secretary Assembly, M A Baba, Deputy Secretary, Assembly Farooq Ahmed Khan besides other officers and officials of Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.

New Delhi, Apr 11: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday removed Kumar Vishvas as party's Rajasthan in-charge, almost a year after he was handed over the position. 
The decision to remove Dr Vishvas was taken at the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting held here, two days ago in view of the Rajasthan Assembly polls slated to be held later this year. 
"AAP will contest Rajasthan assembly elections. Deepak Bajpai (party's national treasurer) will be new state in-charge," senior party leader Ashutosh told reporters here.
On May 3, 2017, the party appointed Dr Vishvas as Rajasthan in-charge and simultaneously suspended Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan from the party's primary membership for his salvo against Dr Vishvas.
Later, the party revoked Khan's suspension.
It may be mentioned over the last few months, Dr Vishvas has been targeting party leaders on various issues leaving them red-faced.
He had raised concerns over "disconnect with volunteers" and also said the party boss (Arvind Kejriwal) was surrounded by "yes men".
It is believed that Dr Vishvas was also 'disappointed' on being denied the Rajya Sabha ticket by the party. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 31: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament in the last financial year 2017-18 has been one of the most proactive parliamentary panels in recent times having produced as many as 102 reports during the period, a senior member of the panel said here.
Sources said from the period April 2017 to March 31, 2018, the Committee produced 65 full reports and the remaining 37 were 'Action Taken Reports'.
"It goes to the credit of sincerity of lawmakers and our PAC members that such workload was handled. Despite politicking as given out in the media, we also work and the legislative business is a serious business," the senior leader said.
He also sought to give credit to the chairman Mallikarjun Kharge (of Congress) and said despite the media image when it comes to working in the PAC, various sub-committees of PAC and even other parliamentary panels like the Standing Committees related to various Ministries; "the members do rise above party affiliation consideration and discharge their duties". 
"In fact, all PAC reports are consensus. This shows none of us are cantankerous when it comes to the working in the parliamentary committees," the leader said. 
Mr Kharge had taken over as the chairman of PAC last year replacing his party colleague Prof KV Thomas -- after the Congress leadership was apparently 'unhappy' with Mr Thomas allowing a PAC sub committee take up Bofors scandal yet again and bring the decades-old issue back to the public debate. 
As a matter of fact even the ruling BJP members did not hesitate to "grill" top government officials and others in the constitutional and authoritative posts especially on the high-volatile demonetisation issue.
According to sources both in the PAC and the Standing Committee on Finance - even vocal BJP members did not hesitate to quiz the likes of RBI Governor Urjit Patel and former Finance and Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adia. UNI

Lucknow, Nov 25: The stage is set for the crucial second phase of polling to urban local bodies in 25 districts in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday amid tight security arrangements.
More than 80,000 security personnel, including 40 companies of central paramilitary forces and 65 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed for smooth conduct of polling that would commence at 0730 hrs and conclude at 1700 hrs. This time, the authorities would also be using more than 80 drone cameras, 30 in Lucknow alone, to monitor the situation at the polling booths. All liquor shops have been shutdown till the end of voting while the borders of the districts going to polls on Sunday have been sealed.  In this phase, at stake would be prestigious mayoral posts in Varanasi, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituencies, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's constituency Lucknow, and Union minister V K Singh’s Ghaziabad constituency, and the Sangam city of Allahabad. Mr Singh will be visiting Lucknow on Sunday to cast his vote. UNI
