UDHAMPUR AUGUST 21:- The Three day historic Sankari Devta Mela concluded on Sunday here at Sankri, Panchari.
A large number of devotees paid obeisance at the local Temple shirne during the day religious congregation which also witnessed cultural, sports and promotional activities .
Member of Legislative Council, Jugal Kishore Sharma was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function. He paid obeisance at the temple shrine to sought the blessings of the Deity.
During the three day of fair, a large number of students drawn from various educational institutions participated sports activities organized by the District Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Education Department.
 The cultural troupes from different parts of the state presented a variety of cultural programmes featuring folk dance and music like Kud, Geetru.
 District administration Udhampur had also made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the devotees visiting the Mela.  As part of promotional activities, the government departments installed stalls to create awareness among people about schemes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture  and other sectors with.
At the end, winners of various sports activities were felicitated by the Chief Guest.
Also present on the occasion were,  Tehsildar Panchari,  Narinder Kumar Sharma, BDO Panchari, Roopali Kohli, SHO, Panchari Pushapjeet Singh and a large number of civil society members.
Sankri devta Mela witnesses huge rush of devotees


UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 19:  Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh today visited Historic Sankri Devta mela at Panchari and paid obeisance at the   temple shrine.
MLA, Dinanath Bhagat also accompanied Dr. Singh at the mela which witnessed huge rush of devotees and series of cultural and sports activities.
Addressing the people, the union Minister congratulated the winners of kabaddi match and cultural troupes who presented different cultural items on the occasion.
The Union Minister asked them to showcase their talent at   state and national level.
 He advised them to work hard and improve their talent to get suitable platform for showcasing the rich culture of their area.  Dr. Singh also stressed on providing necessary training to the local budding sportspersons and artists for honing their skills.
Responding to issues raised by locals, Dr. Singh assured that he would take up the demand for Degree College and Kendriya Vidyalaya at Panchari at appropriate forum. He also urged the youth of the area to avail maximum benefits of various welfare schemes launched by the Government.   Dr. Singh also asked the district administration to expedite the work on all on-going major projects in the district. The Minister also announced a Community facility centre at Panchari as demanded by local people of the area.
The union Minister also inspected the stalls set up by the departments for creating mass awareness about various welfare schemes.
 A scintillating cultural programme featuring local folk dance and music like Kud, Geetru, Paakh was also presented by different cultural troupes.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur in collaboration with Education department organised different sports activities on the 2nd Day of the Mela.
Earlier, the people of the area accorded a warm welcome to Dr. Singh and also apprised him of various problems being faced by them. They demanded   Government Degree College and Kendriya Vidyalaya for the area,  Blacktopping and repair of road from Udhampur to Panchari, Ashram for Specially abled persons, establishment of Wind Energy Projects, Community facility centre etc.
Also present on the occasion were ACR Subhash Chander Dogra, General Manager DIC Suram Chand Sharma, Tehsildar Panchari Narinder Sharma, other district officers and a large number of devotees.

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 18: The 3- day historic Sankri Devta Mela commenced today with great religious fervor and enthusiasm at Sankri, Panchari.

Colorful cultural programmes were organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages during the first day of the mela. Besides, Department of Youth Services and Sports also organised various sports activities which saw the participation of large number of students of different educational institutions.
The District administration has made elaborate arrangements of water, power, security,medicare etc for smooth celebration of the event.

Among others, BDO Panchari Rupali Vaid, BMO Panchari Dr. Anil Saloch, SHO Pushap Jeet Singh besides other officers, members of Sankri Development Committee and large number of prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
