Mumbai, Sep 15: Singer Shaan says the primary reason about his absence from Bollywood music scene is the fact that the newer generation has taken over the industry, leaving fewer opportunities for senior artistes like him.

The voice behind the hits such as "Bum bum bole", "Chand sifarish", "Behti hawa sa tha woh" and 'Jab se tere naina", among others, says he was disheartened for a brief period as not much work was coming his way.

Recalling his low phase, Shaan told, "From 2010 to 2013-14, I was not able to understand what was happening. Why I was not getting the work that I was getting earlier? What did I do wrong? I couldn't find the answer but I figured that it happens with everyone as new people come in and they take over.

"But now, my belief in my own singing has grown. I feel I am a better singer today. I have worked on my shortcomings. I am working hard and proud of myself."

Shaan has come to terms with this shift and says he is busy doing his own independent music, ad films and collaborations.

"With film songs, the A-league stuff is not happening. I have been open to the idea of singing for newer production houses. Many advised me to not take this up and said it will affect your career and that I should be connecting to the top guys. I feel, I was new at some point of a time in my life and somebody did give me an opportunity."

The singer believes doing live concerts are the best way of connecting with the fans.

"Music as a industry is going through lot of changes. I don't know how well paying it is to be a singer today. If you can entertain through live performances then sky is the limit as people enjoy it. People are enjoying it," he adds.

Meanwhile, Shaan and his son Shubh reprised the popular "DuckTales" track in Hindi. He remembers watching this show when he was in his 20s.

"The jingle came to me quickly as somewhere it was in my head. It is an iconic show, I couldn't have said no to this offer."

Shaan says the track complements the sense of adventure and excitement of the show and it was fun recording the Hindi version especially because he shared the experience with his son.

Back in the 90s, "Ducktales" used to air on Doordarshan in Hindi and now Disney India channel is set to relaunch the adventures of Uncle Scrooge and his family in the reboot.

"Ducktales" will be aired on Disney India channel from October 1.

Los Angeles, Sep 12 : Singer and actor Lady Gaga has opened up about the effects of rape trauma, saying it took her "years" to come to terms with it.
In an interview with Vogue, the "Poker Face" star, who has spoken about being raped at the age of 19 in the past, said she still suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

"No one else knew. It was almost like I tried to erase it from my brain. And when it finally came out, it was like a big, ugly monster. And you have to face the monster to heal," Gaga said.

"For me, with my mental-health issues, half of the battle in the beginning was, I felt like I was lying to the world because I was feeling so much pain but nobody knew. So that's why I came out and said that I have PTSD, because I don't want to hide, any more than I already have to," she added.

Describing the effects, Gaga said she feels "stunned" or "stunted" all the time and often starts crying when she has trouble in breathing.

"You know that feeling when you're on a roller coaster and you're just about to go down the really steep slope? That fear and the drop in your stomach? My diaphragm seizes up.

"Then I have a hard time breathing, and my whole body goes into a spasm. And I begin to cry. That's what it feels like for trauma victims every day, and it's... miserable. I always say that trauma has a brain. And it works its way into everything that you do," Gaga said.

The 32-year-old singer-actor has been praised for her first major Hollywood role in Bradley Cooper's directorial debut "A Star Is Born".PTI
