UDHAMPUR, JUNE 29: The 3- day Historic Sudhmahadev Mela concluded with traditional fervor and gaiety today here at Chenani.
During the three day mela devotees paid obeisance at the abode of Shiva in the Sudhmahadev temple after taking bath in the holy spring situated at the entrance of the temple.
During the festival, the folk artists of the surrounding areas turned up in large numbers and presented folk songs highlighting various aspects of religious beliefs with special reference to Lord Shiva.
A number of temporary sweet shops, toy shops and eateries set up by the locals and outside vendors were the main attraction for the visitors. Children were seen enjoying the joy rides.
Mela Officer, Tehsildar Chenani Pardeep Singh managed arrangements for the comfortable pilgrimage to the shrine.
The district administration Udhampur had made elaborated arrangements of security, drinking water,  power supply, Medicare, traffic regulation, additional bus services and stock of commodities for the three-day festival.
Historic Sudh Mahadev Mela concludes

UDHAMPUR, JUNE 10: The 3- day Sudh Mahadev Mela concluded here today with over sixty thousand devotees from within and outside district paying obeisance here at the historic Shiv Temple shrine.
The three day event witnessed   various cultural programs and sports activities at the mela site. Colourful stalls put up by the locals and government departments   attracted huge crowds.

The district administration had also made elaborate arrangements for the devotees visiting the holy place.

DIC presents cultural bonanza
UDHAMPUR, JUNE 09: District Information Centre Udhampur today organised a colourful cultural program in Sudh Mahadev Mela which was the main attraction during the 2nd day of three day Sudh Mahadev Mela.
Various artists participated in the cultural program that highlighted the important welfare schemes being run by the government besides presenting rich Dogra culture.
Thousands of people visited the Mela on second day of the event and had dip in the holy Paap Naashini spring and paid obeisance to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.
Besides, many temporary sweet shops and other eatable corners, stalls of various useful items were set up by the local vendors. District Administration Udhampur also installed awareness stalls of different departments on the occasion.
District Youth Services and Sports organised many activities in which students from different educational institutions participated.

Among others, SDM Chenani Davinder Sharma,Tehsildar  Pardeep Singh, SDPO Chenani C.D.Singh, Naib Tehsildar , SHO and ZEO attended the mela.
Visitors provided information about Govt schemes


UDHAMPUR, JUNE 08: MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat today inaugurated the 3 day Sudh Mahadev Mela here at historic Shiv Temple shrine.
A large number of devotees from within and outside the district thronged the mela and paid obeisance to Lord Shiva.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that such occasions reflect diverse Dogra culture and act as a source to recreate religious and cultural ambience.
Later, the MLA also inspected various departmental stalls put up by different government departments to disseminate information about the schemes being offered by them.
The District administration, Udhampur has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mela.
 The stalls of various departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, Animal Husbandry, Apiculture, Handloom, Handicraft etc attracted the visitors in large numbers who were provided information about the welfare, self-employment schemes. The farmers and rural folk were intimated about modern techniques of cultivation and crop patterns for better returns.
The 3 day long mela would also witness cultural programmes, sports activities and other colourful activities.

Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM), Chenani, Davinder Kumar Sharma, Tehsildar, Pardeep Singh, BMO and district heads of various departments were present on the occasion.
District Administration finalizes arrangements


UDHAMPUR, MAY 24: District Development Commissioner, Niraj Kumar today chaired a meeting to finalize arrangements for the three day  Sudh Mahadev Mela which is scheduled to commence from June 8.
The DDC directed Executive Engineer PDD and Executive Engineer PHE to ensure uninterrupted power and water supplies during the mela. He said that special focus should be on maintaining cleanliness at and around mela site.
The DDC also directed EO, MC to make the venue polythene free zone and install sufficient number of dustbins at the venue. He nominated Tehsildar Chenani as the Mela Officer to ensure coordination among various departments.
For providing medicare to the visitors, the CMO was asked to depute a team of doctors along with an ambulance to the venue. 
The meeting also discussed in detail several other arrangements like setting up of departmental stalls, provision of fire tenders, lighting arrangements, advertisement and publicity of the event, provision of mobile toilets and deployment of additional buses for the visitors. The concerned departments were directed to ensure that all arrangements are put in place well in time.

The DDC further asked all departments to work in close coordination for the smooth conduct of the historic mela.
