          SHOPIAN, JULY 22: In order to assess the law and order situation in Zainapora area of Shopian following the death of a minor girl, MLA Wachi Aijaz Mir, DDC Shopian & SSP Shopian held a joint meeting with the public.
          SDPO, Tehsildar besides civil society members from the area also attended the meeting.
          The participants while interacting with the dignitaries highlighted various issues of public importance and expressed anguish over the tragic death of the minor girl which led to protests in the area.
          The MLA while speaking to the citizens expressed deep condolences and sympathy with the bereaved family. He appealed the locals to maintain peace and calm in the area so that developmental imperatives could maintain primacy and vision of Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti for upliftment of downtrodden people gets fillip.
          The DDC assured the participants that justice will prevail and law will take its own course of action against the culprits. He appealed the public not to take law in their hands and best possible efforts should be made to maintain law and order in the district.

          He asked the executing agencies to take up those works on priority already demanded by the public during the Public Contact Programmes at various pieces.
CM visits final match venue, encourages players


                SRINAGAR, MAY 20: The junior cricket championship organized by State Sports Council concluded today with the final match being played between Sumbal and Zainapora, Shopian teams.
          Conducted for the first time by the Sports Council in collaboration with DPS, 320 teams representing 4800 players across Kashmir Valley participated in the tournament in which 319 matches were played.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti visited the venue of the final match today and watched the game for some time. She met the players and encouraged them to play in a sportsmanship spirit.

Minister for IT & Youth Services & Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari; legislators, Aijaz Mir and Raja Manzoor; Secretary, Youth Services & Sports, Hilal Parray; Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone; Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehman Parra; Principal and management of DPS, Athwajan and a large number of cricket lovers were present on the occasion.
