REASI, MAY 15: As a part of ongoing Swachhta week,
District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar, distributed jute bags among
people after replacing polythene bags from them at bus stand here today.
The jute bags were provided by Municipality Reasi in the form of a
demonstration measure to encourage and motivate people for using bio-degradable
material to keep their surrounding green and clean.
Number of
fruit shops and business points were inspected by the DDC and officers from
other departments.
The move was very innovative when the polythene bags being carried by
the customers were replaced with jute bags in the bazaar without imposing any
penalty or fine as a corrective measure.
DDC, while
speaking to the people, stressed on developing pro-environs habits and asked
them not to throw filth and garbage in open and contribute towards environment
being a responsible citizen.
He impressed upon the shopkeepers to desist from supplying and providing
goods in polythene bag and motivate the costumers for carrying individual bag
so that they do no long rely on poly bags.
