Sept 20: An Army soldier was killed when Pakistani troops opened a new
front today, targeting forward positions in Keran sector in Kupwara district.
Official sources said the Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked and
indiscriminate firing, targeting forward posts on this side of the Line of
Control (LoC) this morning. Indian troops also retaliated, they said, adding
that a soldier was injured in the exchange of fire. The injured was immediately
taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. However, Defence
spokesman was not available to give details about the violation. UNI
