Sept 8: In a major breakthrough the BSF in Ambassa of Dhalai district in a
joint operation with police seized a large amount of contrabands worth Rs 69.33
lakh on National Highway 44 last evening when it was coming from Assam.
According to report, BSF troops based on an intelligence input intercepted the
loaded truck coming to Agartala. But the driver of the truck jumped from the
vehicle and absconded in the nearby forest area. Despite long search police
could not find him yet. Later, during search as many as 53,600 bottles of
Phensidyl and about 4,500 kgs of wheat flour was recovered from the vehicle but
there was no paper found with the consignment. The truck along with the seized
items was handed over to the police. The BSF in last eight months seized more
than 1.72 lakh bottles of Phensidyl worth Rs 2.20 cr. UNI
