Sept 8: Commuters in Uttar Pradesh are likely to face hike in the fare of
the Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation(UPSRTC). With the
announcement of approval of the seventh pay commission for the 23,000 employees
of the UPSRTC, the Board of the Corporation has decided to hike the bus fare by
nine paise per kilometer to meet the financial obligation besides hike in the
prices of diesel. Official sources here today said that the UPSRTC Board which
met under the chairman Praveer Kumar approved the hike in the bus fare from 86
paise per kilometer to 95 paise per km. However, the approval require nod from
State Transport Authority. Around 15 lakh people travel daily in UP on the
UPSRTC buses. Meanwhile, the UPSRTC board along with accepting seventh pay
commission for its employees and hike in the bus fare, has decided to purchase
1000 new buses for its fleet, gave approval on the rural bus service, to
install CCTV in 100 bus stands, to introduce luggage trolley in 10 bus
terminals and approved ISO standard bottled water in the bus stands. UNI
