Delhi, Sept 20: The Union Cabinet today approved revamping of 'Khelo
India' programme aimed at impacting the entire sporting ecosystem, with
wide-ranging interventions. Announcing this after the Cabinet meeting, Sports
Minister Rajvardhan Rathore told newspersons that each athlete selected under
the scheme would receive a scholarship of Rs 5 lakh for eight years. He added
that the policy would take a holistic view of sports and attempt to catch
youngsters through mapping and grading in schools. Special facilities would be
provided for sports in schools and colleges. ''Khelo India' will be revamped
with twin goals -- Sports For All and Sports For Excellence,' he said. UNI
