Darjeeling, Oct 17: GJM supremo Bimal Gurung and his 19 other associates have been booked under various charges, including sedition and murder, after West Bengal Police sub-inspector was gunned down near a riverbed at Patlebas area in Darjeeling recently. The fresh charges against the elusive Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader have been framed after state DGP Surajit Kar Purkayasta's visit to some areas in Darjeeiing town's Chawkbazar area on Monday, where a powerful bomb, triggered by suspected pro-Gorkhaland activists, exploded two months ago. The fresh cases have been filed in Darjeeling Sadar police station against Gurung and his 19 other associates, who fled during a police raid on October 13 in which the SI was gunned down. The DGP said the situation was returning to normal in the hills with the cooperation of people and great job done by a very good team of police force. He said there have been tourists visiting the hills and in course of time more tourists will come here with the onset of winter. UNI
