booked under various charges, including sedition and murder, after West Bengal
Police sub-inspector was gunned down near a riverbed at Patlebas area in
Darjeeling recently. The fresh charges against the elusive Gorkha Janmukti
Morcha leader have been framed after state DGP Surajit Kar Purkayasta's visit
to some areas in Darjeeiing town's Chawkbazar area on Monday, where a powerful
bomb, triggered by suspected pro-Gorkhaland activists, exploded two months ago.
The fresh cases have been filed in Darjeeling Sadar police station against
Gurung and his 19 other associates, who fled during a police raid on October 13
in which the SI was gunned down. The DGP said the situation was returning to
normal in the hills with the cooperation of people and great job done by a very
good team of police force. He said there have been tourists visiting the hills
and in course of time more tourists will come here with the onset of winter.
