New Delhi, Nov 24: The winter session of Parliament will be held from December 15 and last till
January 26.
The decision was taken a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on
Parliamentary Affairs chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The session will have 14 sittings. There will be two days'
Christmas holiday on December 25 and 26, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs
Anant Kumar told mediapersons here after the meeting. The Government had earlier come under heavy criticism of the
Opposition for delaying the winter session which usually starts in the third
week of November. The Opposition had said the session was being delayed due to
the Gujarat Assembly polls. Replying to the criticism, senior Cabinet ministers had said
that there had been instances in the past of Parliament sessions having been
delayed or advanced so as to ensure that they do not clash with polls. UNI
