New Delhi, Jan 12: India and Bhutan on Friday unveiled a ‘Special logo’ for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"To mark the launch of the Golden jubilee celebrations, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Foreign Affairs Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, jointly unveiled the ‘Special logo’ for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations in New Delhi and Thimphu through video-conference," a press release from the MEA said.
In her remarks on the occasion, External Affairs Minister Ms Swaraj said that exemplary ties of friendship and cooperation between India and Bhutan are built on shared values and priorities, utmost trust and understanding.
She also emphasised that there should be "mutual respect and sensitivity" to each other’s interests.
Along with partnership between the two governments, people to people contacts provide depth, character and vibrancy to the relationship, she said.
She recalled the vision, wisdom and foresight of successive political leadership in India and Majesties the Revered Kings of Bhutan, who laid the strong foundation for this special and unique relationship, and continue to provide their personal guidance to advance it for the well being of the two peoples.
As the people of the two countries jointly celebrate the accomplishments of the last fifty years, the Minister called for renewed commitment and efforts from all stakeholders to realise the full potential of the India-Bhutan partnership for mutual benefit.
To mark this milestone, besides high-level exchanges, both India and Bhutan have planned a series of special commemorative initiatives, cultural activities, exhibitions and seminars throughout the year, the MEA said. UNI
